Park of the Campi Flegrei: the Solfatara
DOBEDOO – Solfatara di Pozzuoli is the main volcano of the Campi Flegrei. It extends for about 33 hectares and, in addition to the usual performances that other volcanic craters still active offer, such as fumaroles, mofets and mud volcanoes, allows relaxing walks in the wooded areas and Mediterranean scrubs along the way naturalistic.
The main route can be completed in about 45/60 minutes and involves the passage through a green area that gives access to a kind of belvedere that allows you to admire the whole crater extension, then visit a mineral water well, the fangs, the stone trachits, the great fumarola and the ancient stoves.
At the end of the walk you can enjoy the equipped dining area. Also, you can take advantage of a beautiful park with numerous games to allow children to have fun in multiple ways. Another recommended experience is the evening visit to Solfatara, but it is occasionally arranged during the year.
The Solfatara Volcano, located within the Regional Park of the Campi Flegrei, is in a favorable position if you want to reach many of the most tourist spots in the area. First of all, it is easy to reach from Naples, just over 15 km from the city center. A few meters away there is the Flavian Amphitheater in Pozzuoli, a famous example of ancient Roman architecture. From the center of Pozzuoli you can either take the ferry to reach the islands (Capri, Ischia and Procida), or continue the tour of the Flegrei Fields to Bacoli, Baia and Cuma.
